Product Description

The Powatec Expert Basic is an economical and versatile manual SMT pick & place system for small production runs, prototyping, and technical education at schools and universities.

All carefully designed details like the ball bearing vacuum pick & place head with integrated vacuum switch, soft running pantograph arm, ergonomic design, full ESD safety, set of vacuum pick-up nozzles, and many components feeding systems provide a compact, proven device for your SMT application.

Options

External Monitor

The use of a TFT LCD monitor is recommended to ensure the user sees the highest quality image from the camera. TFT displays specifically are known for their sharpness, color intensity, and fast refresh rates, which pairs well with the HDMI Color Camera option on the Expert Basic to provide the level of detail needed for very fine pick and place operations. Available sizes include:

Accessories

Vacuum Pump

For customers that do not already have air/vaccum available in their facility, or they would like a stand-alone vacuum pump for their pick and place, one can be provided that perfectly pairs with the Expert Basic. Please contact your Powatec representative for more information.

Turntable & Feeders

Turntable Options

Turntable

Available with 45 or 90 storage bins for loose components.

Only one turntable can be mounted at a given time, but an additional turntable can be ordered to reduce downtime of the device simply by exchanging turntables instead of restocking each bin of the mounted turntable.

Turntable Motor

The motor is either operated by two buttons on the assembly head (basic SW) or automatically by the SW (full package) according to a project import.

Protective Cover

Available in Plexiglass or Antistatic ESLON

Turntable Locking Mechanism

Locking mechanism for Plexiglass or Eslon cover used to protect parts from falling out while transporting or exchanging turntables.

Feeder Options

Tape Reel Feeder

This device presents components ordered on reels to the user for placement. The protective cover and used tape are diverted away from the user to keep the pick area uncluttered.

Available for 8mm, 12mm, and 16mm wide reels.

Universal Stick Feeder

This device presents components ordered on sticks to the user for placement. The feeder enables the user to position the stick so that only the desired number of components are exposed, thus avoiding more components than necessary from being poured out.

Available for SO8-S028, SO8L-SO28L, PLCC28-PLCC44, and PLCC52-PLCC84.

Short Tape Feeder

This device allows users to use short pieces of tape of varying widths. In applications where large quantities of a given component are not needed or possible, the Short Tape Feeder is a flexible option to handle short pieces of tape that are not on a reel.

This device contains five slots which support 3x8mm, 1x12mm, and 1x16mm width tapes. It can be mounted directly on the sliding bar, or on a base plate with other feeders.

Tray Table

The Tray Table is mounted onto the sliding bar of the device and provides a flat surface on which a tray of components can be placed. For applications where the required components are provided on a tray (e.g. a JEDEC tray), this device provides a flat and secure interface to ensure components can be properly picked.

The dimensions of the tray table are 310mm x 135mm (12.2″ x 5.3″).

Note: when the Tray Table is mounted, there is no space for other feeders.

Base Plate

Some of the feeder options require a base plate to be in place so that they can be properly installed. These base plates slide onto the sliding bar of the device and provide slots where different feeders can be easily installed and removed, as needed.

The Long Base Plate contains 12 slots for feeders and the Short Base Plate contains 5 slots for feeders.
